White Beach at Santiago Bay in San Francisco, Camotes Islands, Cebu, Philippines

The most visited place in the Camotes group of islands is the White Beach in Santiago, San Francisco, Cebu, Central Visayas, Philippines. I was recently in the area during a business trip to Camotes in late February 2016.

San Francisco town under the jurisdiction of the province of Cebu is on Pacijan Island in the Camotes group of islands at the northeastern part of Cebu. Pacijan is the largest island in the Camotes group. While White Beach in Santiago Bay is the most popular tourist destination in Camotes, it has remained under the radar just like the rest of Camotes. There's not too many commercial establishments, no ridiculously expensive activities for tourists to enjoy, not a lot of vendors frolicking in the beach, and there's no boisterous crowd most of the times. The place probably only gets packed on weekends and holidays.

During my second visit to the place, I got my first glimpse of White Beach from a vantage point at the Santiago Bay Garden Resort. And oh boy, what a beautiful view it was: a white sand beach that is not too crowded with the turquoise waters kissing the shore as the tides were just coming in. And in the background, rocky cliffs and some trees that lends the vista a truly natural feel.

There is some semblance of commerce though at White Beach, but I must emphasize that prices are reasonable and not ridiculously expensive as is the case in many touristy places I have been to. There's a queue of restaurants lining the beach and most of these open air restaurants also open bed spaces for rent, much like a bed and breakfast thing. And if there are no more rooms or bed spaces available, some of these places also has tents for rent so you could actually camp in the beach.

The sand cover at White Beach is so fine, probably one of the finest I have come across. I tried to play with the sand and I had so much fun with it. I even incorporated a sand art activity in the training that I handled and it turned out awesome.
