Dakak Park and Beach Resort, once among the top beach destinations in the Philippines is embarking on an aggressive marketing campaign to reclaim its relevance in the Philippine tourism industry. As part of its efforts to attract more visitors, they will sponsor a familiarization tour of the resort for travel agency personnel and stakeholders in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (M.I.C.E.) sector.

Thaddeau “Thadz” Engaling II, Around The Philippines Blog author, has been invited to join the tour on December 3-6, 2013. The invite was afforded to Thadz as managing consultant of Cebu Teambuilding Services, a training and development consultancy services firm based in Talisay City, Cebu, Philippines that organizes and implements team building programs to corporate organizations, non-profits, and student organizations.
Arrival and Day 1
Thadz will leave Cebu City aboard M/V Filipinas Iloilo of Cokaliong Shipping Lines on the evening of December 2, 2013 en route for Dapitan City. He is expected to arrive at Dapitan City’s Pulauan Port sometime noon of December 3. To kick off the familiarization tour, he will join other guests for lunch while on a bay cruise from Dapitan Boulevard to Dakak Park and Beach Resort. A grand welcome at the resort’s VIP corner welcomes participants to the familiarization tour. Checking-in of guests will be done right after the welcome program, followed a tour of the resort facilities. A cultural show will be done at night, the same time when dinner is served at the Beachfront. There will be cocktails and drinks at the Pirates Bar after dinner.
Day 2
On the second day, participants will travel to Aliguay Island aboard Serpentina 1. Aliguay Island is a protected marine sanctuary where participants will have an island tour. Time will also be given to those who wish to snorkel off the island’s surrounding waters. The Tacubo Restaurant will serve lunch at Aliguay Island. Upon returning to Dakak in the early afternoon, a cove hopping experience awaits participants. Refreshments will be served at the Cockpit Bar around mid-afternoon. Famtour participants will be allowed to catch forty winks before the group heads to the Gloria de Dapitan where they will have dinner at the Fresh Harvest Restaurant. A tour of the Gloria de Dapitan will feature bowling at the Exodus Center, Beans and Browze Café, G Spot, Souvenir Shops, and the Nativity Belen. Later in the night, participants will experience Gloria’s Fantasyland ride all the rides, shows, 5D Cinema, and Horror House. To cap the night, participants will visit the Beehive and Parliament Bar.
Day 3
Day three will feature a tour of Zamboanga del Norte’s twin cities: Dapitan City and the provincial capital city of Dipolog. To start the day rolling, participants will trek to the repeater prior to a historical tour of the shrine city of Dapitan. The historical tour will feature the landing site of Dr. Jose Rizal, the relief map of Mindanao, Rizal Shrine, and St. James the Greater Church.
While the river cruises in Cebu (Aloguinsan) and Bohol (Loboc) are getting its fair share of publicity, Dapitan also has its own river cruise from Barangay Burgos to Dapitan Aqua Marine Park (DAMPA). Lunch will be served to participants on board House Boat 2.
In the early afternoon of Day 3, participants will visit Dipolog City, featuring manufacturing locales for Dipolog’s famed Spanish-style sardines, the Dipolog City Boulevard, the S & J Souvenir Shop and the Holy Rosary Cathedral. Once done with the Dipolog City tour, participants will head back to Dakak and board the Safari Jeep at Lobby 2 en route to the Dakak Adventure Zone. Zipline bar will serve snacks and participants may enjoy the Dakak Adventure Zone facilities such as the zipline, rock climbing, rappelling, and horseback riding. The Italian Restaurant will serve dinner to the guests before they enjoy a bonfire with drum beaters. Aqua Sports Bar will host the participants deep into the night on Day Three.
Participants may check out the aqua sports facilities at the resort on Day Four. Facilities available are the speed boat, jet ski, pedal boat, kayaks, wake boarding, and banana boat. Lunch will be served at the Burgos Restaurant before participants say their farewells and head back to their home bases.
