Filipinos have a very rich culinary culture. While many Filipino dishes have foreign influences, many of the dishes adopted from foreign kitchens were given a local twist to make it more appealing to the usually sweet-seeking Pinoy palate. In Cebu, quite a number of restaurants tried to recreate the recipes from the usual Filipino home kitchen. One of these places is Hukad Restaurant by the Golden Cowrie group.

With four (4) branches currently in Cebu province, Hukad Restaurant is among the top Filipino restaurants in Cebu. I recently ate at their branch in The Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu. The other Hukad Restaurant branches in Cebu are at Parkmall in Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines, at SM Seaside City in Cebu City, Philippines, and at the South Town Centre in Tabunok, Talisay City, Cebu, Philippines.
In the Visayas, Hukad has branches at Dumaguete City, Bacolod City, Tacloban City, and Iloilo City. Hukad Restaurant's ten (10) branches in Mindanao are located in Zamboanga City, Tagum City (Davao del Norte), Butuan City (Agusan del Norte), Ozamiz City (Misamis Occidental), General Santos City (South Cotabato), Pagadian City (Zamboanga del Sur), Cagayan de Oro City (Misamis Oriental), and three branches in Davao City (Davao del Sur). One of the cool things I noticed when we were about to place our orders was an automated call for service button we can press to call for a waitstaff so we can place an order or ask for our bill. We can press the same call for service button to ask for some service water, for a rice refill, or just for any other reasonable service you needed from the restaurant staff.

We ordered crispy pork pata, some cheesy baked scallops, a bowl of fish tinola, a serving of calamari, a plate of camaron rebosado, and pancit habhab.

Never mind if holy week was just about to begin, the crispy pork pata is just too good to resist.

Equally good were the seafood dishes of baked scallops, fish tinola, calamari, and camaron rebosado. I must admit I have had better baked scallops in Cebu, this can come in third best in my list but not without some real competition. The first two spots on that list is pretty set.
