Great Value Bento Meals at Joed's Lutong Hapon in Cebu City, Philippines

After a business meeting, my associate Nathaniel suggested we have dinner at a humble Japanese restaurant in Kasambagan, Cebu City, Philippines. The place is called Joed's Lutong Hapon and is probably the cheapest place to eat Japanese food at in Cebu or the entire Philippines. While I have eaten at Joed's before when it was just starting, it's been a while that I have not been back. They have also transferred for a third time since I last ate there. They are now located across Sarrosa International Hotel beside the Sinangag Station.

The best way to sample Japanese food is to order a bento meal. And at Joed's, their special bento costs only PhP 250. Priced quite the same as the bento meals in other Japanese restaurants, so I though to myself before the orders were served. But lo and behold, to my surprise, Joed's bento meals have much more in them.

Special Bento A

Contents: miso soup, eight (8) pieces of California maki, three (3) pieces of ebi tempura, two (2) pieces of gyoza, mango cucumber salad on a lettuce leaf, shredded cabbage, and a cup of rice garnished with crushed greens. These are one of the largest gyozas I've come across. And never mind the size, it's also among the best ones I have tasted.

Special Bento B

Contents: miso soup, eight (8) pieces of crazy maki, yakisoba noodles, tonkatsu on a bed of sliced cucumbers topped with pickled vegetables, and a cup of rice garnished with crushed greens. The crazy maki is pretty good. It should be as Joed's Lutong Hapon is primarily a sushi place.

Overall the bento meals at Joed's were of great value. I will definitely come back to have more of their bento meals and their unique sushi and maki creations.
