On a recent trip to the mystic island of fire, Siquijor, I participated in an adventure race during the 22nd annual convention of the Regional Association of Development Information Officers 7 (RADIO 7) that took us around several places of interest in the 3rd smallest province in the Philippines.
I happen to be in a team composed of the more senior individuals participating in the convention. A team that had little to no chance of winning the race. But instead of sourgraping about not being able to win in the race, we chose to maximize the experience and enjoy every moment we were there. How did we do that? By design, we will finish as the last team to get to the finish line because while other teams will be in a neck-to-neck race, we will not only do the required challenges but take on side trips as well on places that were not part of the challenges. One of the side trips we took was a stop at the Sandugan Beach Boulevard in the town of Larena.

Sandugan Beach Boulevard
The Sandugan Boulevard is by the Sandugan Beach and part of the Siquijor Circumferential Road. While Sandugan Beach cannot boast of white sands, its crystal clear waters are very inviting. The almost a kilometer long boulevard is lined up with fifty six (56) lamp posts that light up the boulevard at night. I wonder how beautiful this boulevard looks at night. Mangrove trees also line some parts of the beach side of the boulevard while coconut trees line up the other side of the road.
The team I was with had a fun photo shoot at this part of Siquijor. It was so fun even the jumpshot attempt was an epic fail.

Another fun photo was when one of the team members lied down on the pavement and complained how it was so hot after. We were able to do this because there weren't too many vehicles passing by the highway at that time.

Since Sandugan faces the western side of the island, Sandugan Boulevard is a great place to watch a beautiful sunset while in Siquijor.
